"A Bakery in a Box ~ Where Butter Meets Imagination" is a small weekly pastry studio based in Sussex County, Delaware, run by Ellie Keck. After years of testing recipes and dreaming of ideas, Plum Birdie Bakery was created to bring thoughtfully made pastries to life in a way that feels both personal and special. Each week, a limited number of pre-order pastry boxes are released, typically for Saturday pickup. Menus shift with the seasons and leave space for creativity, bringing together nostalgic flavors with new and unexpected touches. Each box is meant to feel like a pastry “tasting” — as if you stepped into a bakery and selected a collection of treats that felt just right. Our family has been vacationing and/or living in Bethany Beach for over 30 years, and we could never understand the lack of places to get a decent bagel. Our obsession with bagels eventually turned into a hobby of baking them, which led us to believe we could solve our own issue! Thus, we conceptualized Bagel Bums, and just as a beach bum loves the beach, a bagel bum loves a good bagel. We’ve been perfecting our bagels for a while now and look forward to sharing them with fellow bagel bums in our favorite place on earth.
